Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Burmese, you place the location marker AFTER the noun to show where something is.
- Use 'မှာ' (hma) for 'in' or 'at'. Example: အိမ်မှာ (in the house).
- Use 'ပေါ်မှာ' (paw-hma) for 'on'. Example: စားပွဲပေါ်မှာ (on the table).
- Use 'အောက်မှာ' (auk-hma) for 'under'. Example: ကုလားထိုင်အောက်မှာ (under the chair).

Meanings
These particles indicate the physical location of an object or person in relation to another object.
General Location
Indicates presence inside or at a place.
“သူ အိမ်မှာ ရှိတယ်။”

Surface Location
Indicates something is resting on a surface.
“ဖုန်းက စားပွဲပေါ်မှာ။”

Learners often use 'မှာ' for everything, but 'ထဲမှာ' is specific to 'inside'.
