Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use the Imperfect Tense to describe ongoing actions or habits in the past; think of it as 'I was doing' or 'I used to'.
- Add -х, -ше, -ше, -хме, -хте, -ха to the stem for most verbs.
- Use it for repeated actions: 'Every day I walked to school' (Всеки ден ходех на училище).
- Use it for background descriptions: 'The sun was shining' (Слънцето грееше).

Meanings

Ongoing action
An action happening over a duration in the past.
