When a host offers food, saying 'কখনো না' (Never!) to more food can be seen as a playful challenge. The host will likely insist anyway. Some rural communities avoid saying 'never' regarding health or wealth to avoid attracting bad luck or the 'evil eye'. In Bengali poetry, 'never' is often used to describe the eternal nature of the soul or the permanence of grief. To an elder, a direct 'কখনো না' might be too strong. Using 'জি না' (Ji na - No, sir/ma'am) followed by an explanation is more polite.
