None of: نستخدمها عندما نتحدث عن مجموعة محددة نعرفها.None of my brothers are here(ولا واحد من إخوتي هنا). لاحظ أننا استخدمناmyلتحديد المجموعة.
never؟- مثال:
I never lie(أنا لا أكذب أبداً). هنا النفي يشمل الماضي والحاضر والمستقبل. - هي أداة قوية جداً في التعبير عن المبادئ والقيم.
- الخطأ:
I don't have no money. - الصواب: إما
I have no moneyأوI don't have any money. - لماذا نخطئ؟ لأننا نحاول توكيد النفي كما نفعل في لغتنا الدارجة.
not:not أن تقف وحدها أمام الفعل.- الخطأ:
He not play football. - الصواب:
He does not play football. - لماذا نخطئ؟ لأننا نسقط هيكلية الجملة العربية (أداة نفي + فعل) على الإنجليزية، متجاهلين حاجة الإنجليزية لـ «الخطاف» (الفعل المساعد) الذي يحمل النفي.
no لنفي الصفات:no للأجهزة (الأسماء) فقط، وليست للأوصاف.- الخطأ:
The car is no fast. - الصواب:
The car is not fast. - لماذا نخطئ؟ أحياناً نخلط بين
noوnotبسبب قصر الكلمتين وتشابههما في المعنى العام.
never في المكان الخاطئ:- الخطأ:
I drink never coffee. - الصواب:
I never drink coffee. - لماذا نخطئ؟ لأننا في العربية قد نضع «أبداً» في نهاية الجملة («لا أشرب القهوة أبداً»)، فنحاول فعل الشيء نفسه في الإنجليزية.

I will not ever go there.(لن أذهب إلى هناك إطلاقاً).
None كفاعل للجملة؟ وماذا عن الفعل بعدها، هل يكون مفرداً أم جمعاً؟none تعني not one لذا يتبعها فعل مفرد (None of them is here).None of my friends are coming. أما مع الأسماء غير المعدودة، فيجب دائماً استخدام المفرد: None of the water was clean.No في جملة No problem بدلاً من Not problem؟problem اسم (Noun)، وكما تعلمنا، no هي التي تنفي الأسماء مباشرة. قولك Not problem خطأ نحوي لأن not تحتاج إلى فعل مساعد أو صفة لتنفيها.I never saw him و I didn't ever see him؟I never saw him هي الأكثر استخداماً وسلاسة. استخدام didn't ever يعطي نبرة توكيدية أقوى قليلاً، وكأنك ترد على اتهام أو تؤكد حقيقة مشكوك فيها.Not مع الأسماء؟not مع الأسماء فقط إذا كان هناك فعل كينونة (be) أو إذا كنا نقارن بين شيئين.- مثال:
