Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

الأسئلة الشائعة (8)

In Croatian, 'ako' acts as a conjunction that joins the clauses. Adding a comma would create an unnecessary break in the flow of the sentence.

Grammatically, yes. Stylistically, 'ukoliko' is more formal and is preferred in business or legal writing.

No, never. Clitics are 'leaning' words and must follow a full word. This is why we say 'Doći ću' and not 'Ću doći'.

People will still understand you, but it will look unprofessional in writing, similar to forgetting a period at the end of a sentence.

Yes, for real conditions in the past. E.g., 'Ako si bio tamo, vidio si ga.' (If you were there, you saw him.)

No, the meaning is identical. The only difference is what you want to emphasize: the condition or the result.

Yes! 'Ako' is for possible things (If it rains...). 'Da' is for hypothetical or impossible things (If I were a bird...).

The clitic 'se' follows the same rule: it must be in the second position of its clause. E.g., 'Ako se vidimo...' or 'Vidimo se ako...'
