Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use the particle 'ຖ້າ' (if) combined with 'ກໍ' (then) to express hypothetical situations or conditions in Lao.
- Use 'ຖ້າ' at the start of the condition clause: ຖ້າຂ້ອຍມີເງິນ (If I had money).
- Use 'ກໍ' or 'ຈະ' in the result clause to show consequence: ຂ້ອຍກໍຈະຊື້ລົດ (I would buy a car).
- Hypothetical past uses 'ຖ້າ... ປານນີ້...' to describe missed opportunities.
