Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Burmese literary texts, you can move objects or adverbs to the front for emphasis, breaking standard SOV structure.
- Fronting: Move the object to the start for focus. Example: 'ပန်းကို သူခူးသည်' (The flower, he picked).
- Inversion: Place the verb before the subject for dramatic effect. Example: 'လာပြီ သူ' (Coming is he).
- Adverbial shift: Move time/place markers to the very beginning. Example: 'ညဉ့်အခါ လမင်းသာသည်' (At night, the moon shines).
