Train stations often have a 'staničný rozhlas' (announcement system) with a very distinct chime before the voice speaks. It's a nostalgic sound for all Slovaks. The main station (Hlavná stanica) is an architectural mix of a historic 19th-century building and a socialist-era extension. It's a common meeting point. When asking for directions, it is considered rude to skip the greeting. Always start with 'Dobrý deň' or 'Prepáčte'. In small villages, the 'stanica' might just be a tiny wooden hut, but it remains the social center where people wait for the 'vláčik' (little train).
