Das System der Gleichheit im Spanischen basiert auf der Unterscheidung zwischen tan und tanto. Das ist für uns Deutsche anfangs ungewohnt, weil wir im Deutschen einfach „so“ verwenden. Im Deutschen sagst du: „Er ist so groß wie ich“ (Adjektiv) und „Er hat so viel Geld wie ich“ (Menge).
Im Spanischen trennt man das strikt: tan wird ausschließlich für Adjektive und Adverbien genutzt. tanto hingegen bezieht sich auf Substantive (Mengen) oder Verben.
Denk an tan als das „kurze“ Pendant für Eigenschaften. Es ist unveränderlich. Wenn du sagst tan alto como, dann bleibt tan immer tan. Das ist für uns Deutsche sehr angenehm, da wir keine Deklination beachten müssen.
Bei tanto wird es interessanter: Hier musst du das „deutsche Denken“ an die Kongruenz (Übereinstimmung) einschalten. Tanto verhält sich wie ein Indefinitpronomen oder ein Begleiter. Es muss in Genus (männlich/weiblich) und Numerus (Singular/Plural) mit dem Substantiv übereinstimmen, auf das es sich bezieht.
