Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Croatian verbs come in pairs: one for ongoing actions (imperfective) and one for completed actions (perfective).
- Use imperfective for habits or ongoing actions: 'Čitam knjigu' (I am reading/I read a book).
- Use perfective for single, completed actions: 'Pročitao sam knjigu' (I have read/finished the book).
- In the present tense, only imperfective verbs are used for current actions.
