Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Combine two words using the linking vowel '-o-' or a hyphen to create precise, high-level concepts.
- Use '-o-' to join two stems into one word: 'par-o-brod' (steamboat).
- Use a hyphen for 'semi-compounds' where both parts retain their identity: 'spomen-ploča' (memorial plaque).
- Only the second part of a full compound usually declines: 'u parobrodu', not 'u paru-brodu'.
