Adverbs of Time: When Something Occurs
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Armenian time adverbs usually sit at the start of the sentence or right before the verb to set the scene.
- Place time words at the start for emphasis: 'Այսօր ես գնում եմ' (Today I am going).
- Use 'հիմա' (now) before the verb: 'Ես հիմա ուտում եմ' (I am eating now).
- Time expressions don't change form based on the verb, they are fixed: 'Վաղը' (Tomorrow).

Meanings
Adverbs of time specify the temporal context of an action, answering the question 'When?'. They are essential for narrative flow in Armenian.
Definite Time
Specific points in time like today, yesterday, or tomorrow.
“Այսօր տաք է։”
“Երեկ անձրև էր։”
Frequency
How often an action occurs.
“Ես միշտ սուրճ եմ խմում։”
“Նա երբեմն է գալիս։”
Relative Time
Time relative to the speaker's current moment.
“Հիմա ես զբաղված եմ։”
“Շուտով կհանդիպենք։”
