Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Georgian uses the 'T-V' distinction (Shen vs. Tkven) and specific honorific markers to show respect to elders and superiors.
- Use 'თქვენ' (Tkven) for plural or formal singular address: 'როგორ ხართ?' (How are you, formal?)
- Use 'შენ' (Shen) for informal address with friends/family: 'როგორ ხარ?' (How are you, informal?)
- Add 'ბატონო' (Batono) or 'ქალბატონო' (Kalbatono) before names for professional respect: 'ბატონო გიორგი'.
