Locative Suffix '-il'
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
The suffix '-il' is added to nouns to mean 'in' or 'at' a location.
- Attach '-il' directly to the noun: 'veedu' (house) becomes 'veettil' (in the house).
- Use it for physical locations: 'nattil' (in the country/native place).
- Use it for abstract concepts or time: 'samayathil' (at the time).
Meanings
The locative case suffix '-il' indicates the location where an action takes place or where an object is situated.
Physical Location
Indicates being inside or at a specific place.

Temporal Location
Indicates a point in time.

Abstract/Metaphorical
Used in abstract contexts or states.
