Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Norwegian, every noun has a gender (en, ei, or et) that you must learn alongside the word itself.

  • Use 'en' for masculine nouns: en bil (a car).
  • Use 'ei' for feminine nouns (optional, often replaced by 'en'): ei jente (a girl).
  • Use 'et' for neuter nouns: et hus (a house).
