Tell me about yourself. Four simple words that can make anyone ramble or freeze.

من هیچ وقت فکر نمی‌کردم اینطور باشه. فکر می‌کردم معرفی من به اندازه صلاحیت‌هام مهم نیست.

Even people at the top of their game can go blank when they hear those dreaded words.

مثلاً، درست بعد از اینکه کسب و کارم رو شروع کردم، فرصت عالی برای درخشیدن داشتم.

So what does that mean? Does your introduction really make that big of a difference?

برای مربیگری در موسسه زنجیره تامین مصاحبه می‌کردم و می‌دونستم که کاندیدای ایده‌آلم.

I never thought it did. I thought my introduction wasn't nearly as important as my qualifications.

بیش از ۲۰ سال تجربه در مدیریت زنجیره‌های تامین برای یکی از بزرگترین شرکت‌های کالاهای مصرفی جهان داشتم.

For example, right after I started my business, I had the perfect opportunity to shine.

برای آمادگی مصاحبه، نمی‌خواستم هیچ شک و تردیدی در مورد صلاحیت‌هام وجود داشته باشه.

I was interviewing as an instructor for Supply Chain Institute, and I knew I was the ideal candidate.

یه سخنرانی کوتاه (elevator pitch) درست کردم و یه لیست کامل از دستاوردهام رو شاملش کردم.

I had over 20 years of expertise leading supply chains for one of the world's largest consumer products companies.

وقتی شنیدم "درباره خودت بگو"، آماده بودم و با افتخار همه چیزهایی رو که می‌تونستم انجام بدم توضیح دادم.

As a prep for my interview, I didn't want there to be any doubts about my qualifications.

وقتی تموم کردم، مصاحبه‌کننده گفت: "به جای صحبت در مورد خودت، بهتر بود توضیح می‌دادی که چه کاری می‌تونی برای من انجام بدی." مصاحبه من پنج دقیقه طول کشید.

I created an elevator pitch and included a complete list of my accomplishments.

اون من رو در جا رد کرد، فقط بر اساس یه جواب.

When I heard "Tell me about yourself," I was ready, and I proudly explained everything that I could do.

اون زنگ بیداری من بود. فهمیدم مهم نیست چقدر باهوشی، مهم نیست چقدر مناسب هستی، اگه نتونی توجه کسی رو جلب کنی.

When I finished, the interviewer said, "Instead of talking about yourself, it would have been more effective if you had explained what you can do for me." My interview lasted five minutes.

بعد از اون، تمرکزم رو روی رمزگشایی معرفی خودم گذاشتم.

She rejected me on the spot based off of one answer.
