Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'เป็นเวลา' (pen wela) for duration and 'มา' (ma) for elapsed time to master Thai time expressions.
- Use 'เป็นเวลา' + [duration] to describe how long an action lasts: 'ฉันรอเป็นเวลาหนึ่งชั่วโมง' (I waited for one hour).
- Use [time] + 'มา' to describe how long something has been happening: 'ฉันเรียนภาษาไทยมาสองปี' (I have been studying Thai for two years).
- Use 'มาแล้ว' at the end of a sentence to emphasize that a duration has already passed: 'เขาไปมาแล้วสามวัน' (He has been gone for three days).
