Basic Plural Formation (-и, -а)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Bulgarian plurals usually end in -и or -а; use -и for most masculine/feminine nouns and -а for many neuter nouns.
- Most masculine nouns take -и: 'град' (city) becomes 'градове' (wait, exceptions exist!) or 'стол' (chair) becomes 'столове'.
- Most feminine nouns take -и: 'жена' (woman) becomes 'жени'.
- Most neuter nouns take -а: 'село' (village) becomes 'села'.
