To express need in Burmese, simply place the verb 'လိုတယ်' (lo-de) at the end of your sentence.

  • Use [Noun] + လိုတယ် for 'I need [Noun]'. Example: ရေ လိုတယ် (I need water).
  • Use [Verb] + ဖို့ + လိုတယ် for 'I need to [Verb]'. Example: စားဖို့ လိုတယ် (I need to eat).
  • For negatives, add 'မ' before 'လိုတယ်'. Example: မလိုဘူး (I don't need it).
