Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Use 'Man' for people and 'Min' for things to ask questions in Amharic.

  • Use 'Man' (ማን) when asking about a person: 'Man new?' (Who is it?)
  • Use 'Min' (ምን) when asking about an object or action: 'Min new?' (What is it?)
  • Place the question word at the beginning or middle of the sentence depending on emphasis.
