Placement of Short Object Pronouns

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Bulgarian, short object pronouns almost always sit directly before the verb.

  • Place the pronoun before the verb: 'Аз го виждам' (I see him).
  • In negative sentences, the pronoun stays between the 'не' and the verb: 'Аз не го виждам'.
  • If there are two pronouns, the indirect object comes before the direct object: 'Дай ми го' (Give it to me).
