A2 Expression 격식체

احسنت!

Ahsant!

Well done! Bravo!

An exclamation of praise and approval for someone's achievement or effort.

🌍

문화적 배경

In Iran, 'Ahsant' is often used by the older generation to show approval of a young person's 'Adab' (politeness) or 'Houshandi' (intelligence). In Dari-speaking regions, 'Ahsant' is also common in formal education and is often followed by 'Barekallah'. Tajik Persian uses 'Ahsant' but it may sound slightly more 'bookish' compared to local alternatives like 'Balli'. In 'Anjoman-e Adabi' (Literary Societies), 'Ahsant' is the standard currency of appreciation. Not saying it after a good verse is considered a lack of taste.

💡

The 'Double Ahsant'

Saying 'Ahsant, Ahsant!' twice rapidly shows you are particularly impressed, especially in artistic contexts.

⚠️

Gender Neutrality

Remember, even if you know Arabic, do NOT use 'Ahsanti' for women in Persian. It sounds unnatural.
