In the Amhara and Tigray regions, 'Awo' is often accompanied by a clicking sound of the tongue or a sharp intake of breath, which signifies intense agreement. Younger generations often use 'Awo' as a filler word, similar to 'Yeah' in English, to keep the conversation moving without necessarily committing to a deep truth. In the Orthodox Church, 'Awon' is used in prayers and responses to the priest, emphasizing the sanctity of the affirmation. In Ethiopian business, saying 'Awo' too quickly can be seen as impulsive. A thoughtful pause before saying 'Awo' shows you have considered the proposal seriously.
