Locative Adjective Agreement

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Croatian, adjectives must match the noun's case; in the Locative case, masculine/neuter adjectives end in -om and feminine in -oj.

  • Masculine/Neuter nouns take -om: 'u starom gradu' (in the old town).
  • Feminine nouns take -oj: 'u lijepoj kući' (in the beautiful house).
  • Plural adjectives always take -im: 'u velikim gradovima' (in big cities).
Adjective(-om/-oj) + Noun(-u/-i) = Location
