In Khmer, the word for 'I' changes based on who you are talking to, but 'Knhom' is your safe, neutral choice.

  • Use 'Knhom' (ខ្ញុំ) as the standard, polite 'I' for almost all social situations.
  • Place the pronoun at the start of the sentence before the verb.
  • Avoid using 'I' when the context makes it obvious, as Khmer often drops pronouns.
