Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Dynamic verbs describe actions you do, while stative verbs describe states you are in; use them differently with tense markers.
- Dynamic verbs (e.g., 'to eat') take continuous markers: 'መብላት' (to eat) -> 'እየበላሁ ነው' (I am eating).
- Stative verbs (e.g., 'to know') often avoid continuous forms: 'አውቃለሁ' (I know) is correct, not 'እያወቅኩ ነው'.
- Use the perfective aspect for states that have already been established: 'ወድጄዋለሁ' (I have come to like it).

Some regions might use different auxiliary markers for continuous aspect.
The Amharic verbal system is derived from Proto-Semitic roots.
