The Nominative case is the dictionary form of a noun, used primarily for the subject of a sentence.

  • Use it for the subject: 'Дос келді' (The friend arrived).
  • No suffix is added: It is the base form of the word.
  • Used for naming objects: 'Бұл — кітап' (This is a book).

Meanings

The Nominative case (Atau септік) is the unmarked, base form of a noun in Kazakh. It identifies the subject of a sentence and answers the questions 'Кім?' (Who?) or 'Не?' (What?).
