Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

To turn any statement into a yes/no question in Thai, simply add the particle 'ไหม' (mai) or 'หรือ' (reu) at the end.

  • Add 'ไหม' (mai) to the end of a sentence for a polite yes/no question: 'คุณหิวไหม' (Are you hungry?)
  • Use 'หรือ' (reu) for a more casual or alternative question: 'ไปหรือ' (Are you going?)
  • Keep the word order the same as a statement; the particle does all the work.
