Using Perfekt for Completed Actions in the Past

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

The Perfekt tense is the most common way to describe completed actions in the past by combining 'biti' and a past participle.

  • Use the auxiliary verb 'biti' (to be) in the present tense: 'Ja sam radio' (I worked).
  • Add the l-participle of the main verb: 'On je pio' (He drank).
  • The l-participle must agree with the subject in gender and number: 'Ona je radila' (She worked).
Subject + 'biti' (present) + l-participle
