Classifier for Animals (Kbal)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Khmer, you must use the classifier 'kbal' (ក្បាល) when counting animals to indicate the head count.
- Use 'Number + Classifier' after the noun: 'Dog two head' (ឆ្កែពីរក្បាល).
- The classifier 'kbal' literally means 'head' and is used for most animals.
- For very small animals or insects, other classifiers might be used, but 'kbal' is the standard for pets and livestock.
