The Present Transgressive (Prechodník prítomný)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
The present transgressive describes a simultaneous action performed by the subject of the main clause, ending in -úc or -iac.
- Use it only when the subject of the main verb and the transgressive are the same: 'Idúc domov, spieval.'
- Form it from the 3rd person plural present tense by adding -úc or -iac.
- It functions as an adverb, so it never changes its form regardless of gender or number.
