Directness is valued. Using 'duok man' without 'prašau' (please) among close friends is not seen as rude, but as a sign of intimacy. In contrast to Lithuania, English speakers often find 'Give me' too blunt and prefer 'Could you give me...'. Direct imperatives are very rare. A Lithuanian 'duok' would be translated with much softer, humble forms in Japanese. Similar to Lithuanian, the direct imperative 'Day mne' is common and acceptable in casual settings.
