In Egypt, the 'Kumsari' (conductor) often helps people 'alight' by shouting the station names. While the street language is 'Anzil', the signs in the new Cairo Metro use 'الترجل'. In Jordan and Lebanon, public buses (Service) are very common. Using 'ترجل' would mark you as a foreigner or someone reading from a book, as 'Nizil' is universal. In the modern transport systems of Dubai and Doha, automated announcements use high-register Fusha, including 'ترجل'. This creates a bilingual environment where 'Alight' and 'ترجل' are heard daily. In Morocco and Tunisia, 'Habata' (to descend) is often used in dialect, but 'ترجل' remains the standard in formal newspapers like 'L'Opinion' (Arabic version).
