The concept of 'Ta'arof' means that even a simple request like closing a door should be phrased as a polite suggestion rather than a command. In Dari, the phrase is almost identical, but the pronunciation of 'ra' is often more distinct and less likely to become 'ro'. Tajik uses the Cyrillic script, but the sentiment remains. Politeness is highly valued in Central Asian Persian culture. In modern Tehran, people might use 'Mishe...' (Is it possible...) more often than the direct imperative to sound even softer.
