"अपनी खिचड़ी अलग पकाना"

To act independently or selfishly, not cooperating with others.

वह हमेशा अपनी खिचड़ी अलग पकाता है, कभी टीम के साथ काम नहीं करता। (He always cooks his own खिचड़ी, never works with the team.)

"आँखों का तारा"

The apple of one's eye, very dear.

वह अपनी माँ की आँखों का तारा है। (He is the apple of his mother's eye.)

"ईद का चाँद होना"

To be seen very rarely, to be a rare sight (like the moon of Eid).

तुम तो ईद का चाँद हो गए हो, आजकल दिखते ही नहीं। (You've become an Eid moon, don't show up these days.)

Unity is strength (literally, one and one are eleven).

To be astonished or amazed.

उसकी कला देखकर सबने दाँतों तले उँगली दबा ली। (Everyone was astonished by his art.)

"नाक में दम करना"

To annoy or harass intensely, to make life difficult.

बच्चों ने मेरी नाक में दम कर दिया है। (The children have made my life difficult.)

"पानी-पानी होना"

To be extremely embarrassed or ashamed.

झूठ पकड़े जाने पर वह पानी-पानी हो गया। (He was extremely embarrassed when his lie was caught.)

"हाथ पाँव फूल जाना"

To be terrified or lose courage due to fear.

शेर को देखकर उसके हाथ पाँव फूल गए। (Seeing the lion, he was terrified.)
