Indirect Speech (ပြောသည် / ဆိုသည်)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'ဟု' (hu) or 'လို့' (lo) to connect someone's statement to a reporting verb like 'ပြောသည်' (said).
- Use 'ဟု' for formal writing: သူလာမည်ဟု ပြောသည်။ (He said he would come.)
- Use 'လို့' for daily speech: သူလာမယ်လို့ ပြောတယ်။ (He said he would come.)
- Always place the reporting verb at the very end of the sentence.
