Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Causative suffixes (-tır/-tir, -dar/-der, -zar/-zer) turn a simple action into an action forced or requested by someone else.
- Add -tır/-tir to verbs ending in vowels or voiced consonants (e.g., оқы -> оқыт).
- Add -dar/-der to verbs ending in 'l', 'n', 'z' (e.g., жаз -> жаздыр).
- Add -zar/-zer to specific verbs ending in 'r' (e.g., өт -> өткіз).
Meanings
The causative suffix indicates that the subject causes another person or entity to perform the action of the verb.
Direct Causation
Forcing or directly causing someone to act.

Indirect Causation/Request
Arranging for an action to be done.
