Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'Je voudrais' or 'Pourriez-vous' instead of direct commands to sound polite and native in French.
- Use 'Je voudrais' (I would like) instead of 'Je veux' (I want) for requests.
- Use 'Pourriez-vous' (Could you) to ask someone to do something.
- Always add 's'il vous plaît' to complete the polite tone.
Overview
Je veux un café と言うと、これは「コーヒーが欲しい！（今すぐ出せ）」というかなり強い要求に聞こえてしまいます。これを Je voudrais un café と言うと、「コーヒーをいただけると嬉しいのですが…」という、相手の都合を気遣う響きになります。parler- / voudr- |-ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient |vouloir(〜したい) →je voudraispouvoir(〜できる) →je pourraisaimer(〜が好きだ) →j'aimerais

Pourriez-vous m'aider ?(手伝っていただけますか？)。Pouvez-vousよりも、「もし可能であれば」というニュアンスが含まれ、相手が断りやすくなります。相手に断る余地を与えることが、フランス流の本当の優しさです。 - 3提案をするとき:
On pourrait aller au musée ?(美術館に行ってみない？)。これは「〜してみるのはどうかな？」という、相手の意見を尊重した誘い方です。
- 1「現在形」と「条件法」の混同: 日本語では「コーヒーが欲しいです」と「コーヒーをいただけると嬉しいです」を「欲しい」という言葉だけで使い分けることができますが、フランス語では
Je veuxとJe voudraisを明確に分ける必要があります。これを混同すると、非常に失礼な印象を与えてしまいます。 - 2「未来形」の語幹を忘れる: 条件法は未来形がベースです。
vouloirの語幹がvoudr-であることを忘れて、原型に直接語尾を付けようとしてしまうミスがよくあります。これは、日本語で言えば「活用形を間違えて覚えている」状態です。 - 3発音の省略:
voudraisの語尾-aisは、日本語の「エ」に近い音ですが、鼻にかかったような音を意識しないと、ただの「エ」になってしまい、ネイティブには聞き取りにくいことがあります。特にpourriezのダブルrは、しっかり舌を弾く練習が必要です。
