Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'ne' after the subject when the verb is transitive and in a perfective tense.
- Add 'ne' to the subject if the verb is transitive in past tense: 'મેં સફરજન ખાધું' (I ate an apple).
- The verb must agree with the object, not the subject: 'મેં સફરજન ખાધું' (I ate the apple - neuter).
- Do not use 'ne' with intransitive verbs like 'to go' or 'to come': 'હું ગયો' (I went).

Meanings
The ergative particle 'ne' marks the agent of a transitive verb in the perfective (past) aspect.
Transitive Past Subject
Used to mark the doer of an action in the past tense when an object is present.
