Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Mongolian uses vowel harmony; if a word has E, Ö, or Ü, all following suffixes must also use these soft vowels.
- Rule 1: Words containing E, Ö, or Ü are 'feminine' (soft). Example: 'дээл' (deel).
- Rule 2: Suffixes must match the word's vowel type. Example: 'дээл-тэй' (with a deel).
- Rule 3: Never mix hard (A, O, U) and soft (E, Ö, Ü) vowels in a single root word.
