Do you even know who you are?

Are you your memories?

Have you ever looked at a photograph of yourself

00:52

and thought, "That's what I look like?

00:55

Ugh."

00:56

We often think we look bad

00:58

or not right in photos

01:01

because photos show us what we really look like

01:04

to other people.

01:06

The you that you're used to seeing

01:08

is mirror you.

01:11

Every mirror you look into reverses your face.

01:14

Most selfie cameras do this too,

01:17

so we tend to prefer that version of ourselves.

01:20

If you wanna see yourself in a mirror

01:22

the way other people see you in real life,

01:24

take two mirrors

01:26

and position them at a 90-degree angle.

01:28

What you see won't be yourself reversed,

01:32

but how you look in real life.

01:34

So who would you say you are really?

01:36

Is it how you look?

01:38

Or is it how you dress?

01:39

Or are you the atoms that make you up?

01:42

Because all of those things change throughout your life.

01:45

Ah, maybe the real common thread,

01:47

that which doesn't change,

01:49

is your history,

01:51

your memory.

01:52

But what if we remember things differently

01:55

from the way they actually happened.

01:57

Does that mean we don't know ourselves?

02:04

False memories are

02:06

frighteningly easy to create.

02:09

Today, we're gonna make some,

We have created a fake game show

We're gonna bring contestants down memory lane

02:19

and have them tell us about their past.

from when you were very, very young.

03:28

- Okay. - I'm going to start
