Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
To pluralize feminine and neuter nouns in Gujarati, simply change the final vowel to 'ઓ' (o).
- Feminine nouns ending in 'ી' (i) often change to 'ઓ' (o) or add 'ઓ'. Example: છોકરી (girl) -> છોકરીઓ (girls).
- Neuter nouns ending in 'ું' (u) change to 'ાં' (a) or 'ઓ' (o). Example: પાનું (page) -> પાનાં (pages).
- General rule: When in doubt for feminine, add 'ઓ' to the end of the word.
