Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Croatian verbs come in pairs: one for ongoing actions (imperfective) and one for completed actions (perfective).
- Use Imperfective for habits or ongoing actions: 'Čitam knjigu' (I am reading a book).
- Use Perfective for a single, finished result: 'Pročitao sam knjigu' (I finished reading the book).
- Most verbs have a partner; learn them together as a set.

Meanings
Verb aspect describes whether an action is viewed as an ongoing process or a completed event.
Imperfective (Trajni)
Focuses on the duration or repetition of an action.
“Svaki dan radim.”

Perfective (Svršeni)
Focuses on the completion or the result of an action.
“Danas sam napisao pismo.”
“Kupio sam kruh.”
