Present Simple (-a/-y/-di)

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

The Present Simple describes habits and facts by adding suffixes like -a, -y, or -di to the verb root.

  • Use -a for consonant-ending roots: 'ishla' -> 'ishlaydi' (he works).
  • Use -y for vowel-ending roots: 'o'qi' -> 'o'qiydi' (he reads).
  • Add personal suffixes like -man, -san, -di to show who is doing the action.
Verb Root + Suffix (-a/-y) + Personal Ending = Present Simple
