It is customary to say 'Auguri' to someone on their 'onomastico' (name day), which is the feast day of the saint they are named after. In the South, celebrations are often louder and more communal; 'Auguroni' is used more frequently to show extra affection. In business, 'Tanti auguri' is used to maintain a polite, positive relationship during milestones. Even abroad, Italian families maintain the tradition of saying 'Tanti auguri' during Sunday lunches or family gatherings.
