To use it correctly, remember gender. Say تحب تيجي معانا؟ (tuhib tiji ma'ana) to a man. For a woman, say تحبي تيجي معانا؟ (tuhibbi tiji ma'ana). The verb تحب means 'you like' or 'would you like.' The word معانا means 'with us.' It’s short, sweet, and very easy to drop into conversation. You don't need a long preamble. Just say it with a smile.

Use it constantly! If you are leaving the office for lunch, ask your desk neighbor. If you and your friends are heading to a cafe, ask the person you just met. It works great in person or over text. It’s perfect for low-pressure situations. It makes you look like a social pro. In the Arab world, doing things alone is rare. This phrase is your ticket to making new friends fast.

Avoid this in very stiff, formal settings. If you are inviting a high-ranking official to a gala, use نتشرف بحضوركم instead. Also, don't use it if you don't actually want them to come! In some cultures, 'fake' invitations are a thing, but here, people might actually say yes. Don't use it if the activity is private or sensitive.

Hospitality (Karam) is a massive part of Arab identity. Inviting someone along is considered polite, even if you barely know them. It stems from a nomadic history where travelers were always welcomed. Today, it’s just how people bond. If you don't invite someone nearby, it might look like you're excluding them.

You might hear عايز تيجي معانا؟ (Do you want to come?). This is slightly more direct. In the Levant, you might hear بتجي معنا؟ (Will you come with us?). If you want to be extra polite, add يا ريت (I wish/It would be great) at the end. All of these achieve the same goal: making the other person feel like part of the tribe.
