常见错误

Using 'Neak' for someone much older or of high status can sound too clinical or slightly cold. Use family titles like 'Grandfather' or 'Uncle' instead.

Wrong: អ្នកឈ្មោះអ្វី? (Neak chmoh avei?) to an elderly person.
正确: លោកតានាមអ្វី? (Lok ta neam avei?) or using titles.

While 'Knhom' is polite for people, monks require a special set of vocabulary. For A1, just be aware 'Knhom' has limits.

Wrong: Using 'Knhom' when talking to a monk.
正确: Using 'Knhom-preah-karuna' (very formal).

This reverses the hierarchy. It might be taken as a joke, but usually, it just sounds like you can't tell their age.

Wrong: Calling a younger person 'Bong'.
正确: Calling them 'Oun'.
