Direct Object (Accusative Case)

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

The Accusative case marks a specific, definite direct object by adding a suffix based on vowel harmony.

  • Use -ı, -i, -u, -ü for specific objects: Kitabı oxudum (I read the book).
  • If the word ends in a vowel, add -nı, -ni, -nu, -nü: Ananı gördüm (I saw your mother).
  • Only use this for definite objects; indefinite objects have no suffix: Kitab oxudum (I read a book).
