Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

some و any كأنهم «أشباح الكمية». هما بيمثلوا رقم، بس مش بيقولولنا الرقم ده كام بالظبط. هل some معناها اتنين؟some لما تكون حاسس بإيجابية. دي للجمل المثبتة (affirmative sentences) لما تكون متأكد إن في حاجة موجودة. وبتستخدم any لما الدنيا تكون فاضية شوية.Any كمان بتدخل في معظم الأسئلة. عاملة زي المحقق اللي بيدور على أدلة.Do you have any clues?والجزء الحلو؟ إنهم بيشتغلوا مع الأسماء الجمع (
friends, cookies) والأسماء اللي لا تعد (time, coffee). مرنين جداً، زي مدرب اليوجا للجمل بتاعتك.some لامتلاك الأشياء، و any لعدم امتلاك الأشياء أو السؤال عنها. ده نظام ثنائي (binary system) لاحتياجاتك اليومية في الإنجليزي.

هل هي any water ولا any waters؟
عادةً any water. الميه لا تُعد (uncountable). بتقول waters بس لو بتتكلم عن أنواع مختلفة من الميه المعبأة، وده نادر.
ليه صاحبي قال "I don't have some of those"؟
ده مستوى متقدم شوية! هما يقصدوا إن معاهم *جزء* منهم، مش *كلهم*. لمستوى A1، خليك في القاعدة الأساسية الأول.
هل ممكن أقول
Have you some tea?؟
دي صيغة قديمة جداً وبريطانية. استخدم Do you have some tea? أو Would you like some tea? بدالها.
أعمل إيه لو مش متأكد الاسم يُعد ولا لأ؟
لو مش قادر تحط رقم قبله (زي one money أو one advice)، عامله معاملة الاسم الذي لا يعد واستخدم some أو any. ده رهان مضمون!
هل anybody هي نفسها any؟
تقريباً! Anybody للناس، وبتتبع نفس قواعد النفي والسؤال. Is anybody home?

Meanings
Words used to describe an indefinite or unknown quantity of something, usually with plural countable nouns or uncountable nouns.
Affirmative Quantity
Used to state that a quantity of something exists without being specific about the number or amount.

Used to state that zero amount of something exists.
