Forming the Locative: -ում
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use the suffix -ում to say 'in' or 'inside' a place or time.
- Add -ում to a noun to mean 'in': տուն (house) -> տանը (in the house - note: irregular stem change).
- For most regular nouns, simply attach -ում: սենյակ (room) -> սենյակում (in the room).
- It answers the question 'Where?' (Որտե՞ղ): Դպրոցում (In the school).

Meanings
The locative case indicates the location of an object or person, or the time an event occurs.
Spatial Location
Being inside a physical space.
“Գիրքը պայուսակում է (The book is in the bag).”
“Նա այգում է (He is in the park).”
Temporal Location
Occurring within a specific time frame.
“Ամռանը (In the summer).”
“Մեկ ժամում (In one hour).”
